Life is Better in Flip Flops

This is one of my fave pics from last summer and just looking at it has me so excited for more!

Spring was a huge transition period for me professionally and, because they're really one and the same, personally.  People have asked why I closed the studio, stopped doing workshops and moved my business back home.  To me, the answer is complicated and I could tell you a million reasons for all of it but honestly, it's right here in this photo.

There is a post making the rounds on social media recently with the theme of "you have 18 summers with your children".  Well guess what you guys?  I have four left!!  Just four more summers with the big guy in this photo and I know how I want to spend them.

So I have totally been enjoying these past several weeks.  Many custom orders have come in and I've had a chance to work on some really fun projects.  Cricket in a Box and custom stencil orders are keeping me busy too, along with creating inventory for the stores that carry my signs.  And this summer I will do camp in Severna Park which I am very much looking forward to.  Because I have a limited number of summers with those kids too and I want to make the most of it!

This is the fifth season for Cricket Camp and our second location change.  But things get better every year as I have new and returning campers and try to predict what the favorite projects will be!  I am ready to go this year with painted t-shirts, summer snow globes, canvas projects, clay and more.

If you have camp aged kids looking for fun July 10th - 12th, you can find all the details here

Whether you are a parent counting down the remaining summers or just getting started...or maybe long finished or not even thinking about it or content with fur babies...I hope you enjoy the heck out of this summer.  The long days and warm temps never stick around as long as I would like and I plan to soak it up this year.

Change is Good

Whew! Still a week left to go in April but it's been quite a transition month.  On April 12th, we held the last workshop at Cricket Studio.  It was great to celebrate four years of workshops, friendships and fun.

But now the real work begins.  Aside from the mundane task of cleaning out the studio, we also have many exciting things happening. This month I have pieces at Here. a pop-up shop in downtown Annapolis and Local by Design (their downtown location and the new mall location!).  Spring is in the air and everyone is out and about, shopping and freshening up their spaces.  Which means pieces are selling fast and I have lots to do restocking the stores.  if you're looking for signs, you will find them there,  I've also had several new custom orders to keep me busy for awhile. if you're looking for something special, let me know.

If you're more the DIY type - we have lots of news to share about Cricket in a Box!  Our website has been completely updated to reflect all of the recent changes.  We have NEW DESIGNS for both Cricket in a Box and Cricket Jr.  You can order directly from our site and enjoy free shipping on all orders.  You choose the colors and designs.  We also have Cricket in a Box, jr available at Local by Design at the mall if you are local and prefer to walk in and pick up a pre-made box, or check it out in person and place your custom order with the staff.  And finally, we have a local edition of Cricket in a Box (home state, MD) available at Here. a pop-up shop as well as a LIMITED EDITION one-person kit we created just for them.  These are available at the shop until April 29th.

Yes, change is definitely good.  We hope you are enjoying it unfold and we're looking forward to continuing the journey together!

Spring & New Beginnings

Spring and this past holiday weekend have us thinking about new beginnings. Even though the weather has been less than cooperative here in Maryland, you can still feel that spring is upon us. Tiny buds on trees bring hope that in just a couple of weeks we will be surrounded by color. It is a wonderful metaphor for how I am feeling.

In 10 days our studio in Annapolis is closing.  But, like the Spring, we know that we are about to be surrounded by all things new and full of color. Yesterday, Local By Design opened their 3rd location at Westfield Annapolis Mall. Over 60 local artisans, including myself, will have their work available in one place. It looks incredible and we couldn’t be happier for Suzi and Susan.

April 12 we say goodbye to our home for the last 3 years at 1818 Margaret Avenue. It's bittersweet, but we plan to go out with a bang!

April 13 through the 29th- brings us Annapachella via HERE. A Pop Up Shop.,  located at 232 Main Street in Downtown Annapolis. Shop our finished pieces, our "Home" Cricket In A Box for four and our EXCLUSIVE for HERE Cricket In A Box for one. This fun stencil is totally in tune with Amy & El’s ode to Coachella theme.

Over the next few weeks you will also notice the evolution of our website. You will find more options for Cricket in a Box and more choices to make each project your own. Since we know sometimes your besties have really different taste than you do, we will have multiple stencil options available to create your own Cricket in a Box, the all inclusive craft party in a box. And wait until you see what is in store for Cricket in a Box jr and Cricket in a Box Wedding. Spring has definitely sprung!

As always, we'd love to connect with you on FacebookInstagramPinterest and YouTube.  Stop by even if you just want to say "hi!" -  we would love to hear from you!
